The lonely island with a cross on a mountain symbolizes the death experience. A tear from the disciple's eye reveals that she does not yet understand why these things have happened. In the foreground, a winding cloth on the tree and a free dove in flight symbolize resurrection and new life. This life, death, and resurrection cycle is a necessary, repeated process of our Christian walk. Like Jesus' first disciples after His crucifixion; we find it painful and difficult to accept and to understand the various crucifixions we experience in our lives.

We continue of the road to Emmaus...
We meet Jesus further along the way.
We understand.
